Nokia N8 as a laptop – HDMI + Apple Bluetooth keyboard and Mouse

Well technically that’s a portable desktop since laptops are integrated. But that’s just being finicky.

As Noah from PhoneDog notes, whilst other handsets may have HDMI, they may only produce Videos/Photos in the output where as the Nokia N8 will replicate the ENTIRE phone experience through HDMI meaning it could really be your portable computer.

The N8’s screen whilst 640×360 is upscaled to a full 1280×720 for that desktop like experience – icons and text appear sharper which helps see that mouse pointer.

Imagine the desktop like games that we’ve seen on the N900. Actually they were desktop games ported to N900 (e.g. red alert, theme hospital, star craft, war craft ii). and also played with peripherals. PC gaming – without the PC.

That’s just awesome. I hope I can get it to work with my monitor, keyboard and mouse.

Remember this will also work via the TV/headphones out socket if the TV/screen you have access to doesn’t have an HDMI input – so you can also plug into composite, and with a composite-SCART adaptor (very cheap and small) you can plug into SCART too.
If you want to plug into the old TVs with only co-axial sockets you need an RF modulator which you can get off EBay.

finally what i thought months ago actually works and a tool to classify it as a smartphone and used for something usefull which leads me to the best app for using windows through symbian… i want a phone that converts to a laptop with an app to change docs with a proper camera, music player with radio, gps and a strong phone thats not made of plastic.. the n8 is not complete but at least nokia have vision… i thinks its 2 years before the full package comes out with a slick phone/computer system that will see iphone, microsoft and although i like android its all fluff all old and fairly limited… will nokia bring their software beyond our expectations and be the new microsoft..someone will be taking bill gates shoes very soon.. the billion dollar question…
