You’d be forgiven in mistaking the name for the comedian, David Chappelle – though world renowned Celebrity Photographer David LaChapelle is also known for his humorous style in such daring and unique pieces for fine art, advertising and fashion shoots.

Nokia Australia have teamed up with LaChapelle where you can NOMIN8 yourself and a friend to be photographed. Note: Entry is only open to Australian residents aged 18 years or over. Touch luck if you thought you could have been flown out down under.

Damian Dinning Flickr set with the N8

It would appear that post-Nokia World, Mr Dinning, the man in charge of the Camera and imaging features on the soon to be released N8 ( seems like we’ve been hearing that all year!!) has put up a ~140 photo Flickr set of images taken with the N8. The majority are photos that we’ve all yet to see and some demonstrate the brilliance of the engineers over at Nokia.

One more photo below and a link to the entire set.

Nokia N8 what will you do with it ?

Yep that is Nokia’s new marketing effort you might remember when the N8 was first unveiled Nokia kept referring in their videos saying

” Its not technology, its what you do with it

Which is true Nokia are really targeting the N8 as a multimedia creation tool which I think is pretty cool. Judging from these shots as well Nokia are also targeting designers, which is nice as I am one 😀 Any other Designers also looking forward to the N8 hit up the comments and tell us why

Some more shots of the situations the N8 will be used in

Ovi Store TV advert

If my memory serves me right I have seen about 1 advert from Nokia on television this year, but this is set to change. I have read a lot of reports of Nokia about to launch their massive advertising efforts for the Nokia N8 with this advert below being the kickstart to the campaign. With most of Nokia’s devices being launched the second half of the year expect Nokia to be on the tubes a lot in the coming in the months depending on where you are……..

Nokia N8 on pre-order in Germany

The Nokia N8 is now in pre-order in Germany! Get them pre-orders in while they are hot. Apparently the price in Germany for the N8 will be €479. Remember the initial €370 price was before takes and the other boring bits. The N8 is also available for pre-order in France for €459, so according to unwiredview you will not be able to get the N8 for under €400 in Europe which is a shame.

It is a shame that the N8 is rather expensive as we get towards the launch I can remember when it was first announced people raved about the price now it seems rather large especially as this is a high-end in the mid end smarthphone market and not one of the “superphone” breed…….

Anyway what do think about the price???

BYW- Now Nokia where is the UK pre-order please ???

Nokia C7 leaked again

The Nokia C7 has been leaked again in an what looks like a genuine feature in a Hong Kong IT magazine called “Hi-Tech Weekly” issue 615:

Looks like the Nokia C7 is very close to launch since they are already making ads for it. As you can see it runs Symbian 3 it has a 3.3 inch multitouch display.

Key features:

  • Symbian 3 OS
  • 3.3 inch multitouch display
  • Resolution of 640 x 360
  • 3.5mm head jack
  • microUSB
  • 8 Megapixel autofocus camera with HD video recording
  • Wi-Fi and GPS will probably be included

According to Fonearena it already has been handled by people and they say the device is easy to use and quite fast which is nice to hear.

My opinion on this is if this is so close to release which it is considering that they are already making ads for, that means the N8 should be available in August now thats just my speculation.

My personal opinion on this phone is that there are a ton of features that would make most high end smartphones cringe and considering this is a mid range smartphone is should be solid device for the average consumer

What do you think are you looking forward to this phone, let us know in the comments

Thanks to Amanda for the heads up

Ovi demoed on N8 promotional video

I came across this interesting promotional video of Ovi being shown off on the N8 but with some bizarre UI elements of the Nokia 5800 or the current S60 5th edition for the music phones, must have been an old video pitched to the Nokia marketing department maybe before making a final video I don’t know  but still seems weird.

BTW Nokia are finally taking Ovi more seriously a lot of videos have surfaced with Ovi being the main service being heavily advertised which is good because I like Ovi and I am sure a lot more people would if they just got rid of some of the services and concentrated on the more important ones such as Ovi maps, Ovi store and maybe Ovi files.

MakeMyApp iDea 2: “App Brainstormer” – Submit your brilliant ideas anywhere, anytime. Comes with incentives ^_^

April 28, 2010 4 comments

Another post (Other idea was “Green Tracker“) to remind you of Nokia’s competition where by just submitting your idea can get you your app made, your own Nokia N8 and a trip to Nokia World!

Go head over to http://n8makemyapp.com/ to submit your idea.

It takes 2 minutes! You could be winning yourself the now much coveted Nokia N8 and have fun at Nokia World this September.

Here’s another example: “App Brainstormer” (updated one).

Just came up with a brilliant idea for an app? Haven’t really got the technical skills to make your own app but still have a brilliant idea? Maybe you just have a random idea, and perhaps it is brilliant – it just needs to be heard.

Don’t take chances on your idea disappearing.

Submit it as an app idea. With this app, just describe what you want it to do, and send.

Ideas like this would get pooled together into respective categories.

Like this competition, it gives developers ideas on what apps they should make.

If your idea becomes an app, you can either get ovi store credit to buy music/apps or donate your ‘idea’ earned credit to a charity.

Everybody wins.
