Video: Nokia C5-03 Hands on

December 8, 2010 9 comments

Here’s another rare hands on with the Nokia C5-03. Yes 03, not the C5-01 T9 candybar

  • Push and unlock on screen (like X3-02. No slider switch it appears)
  • Demo goes through several aspects of the phone:
    • Kinetic scrolling
    • Contacts
    • Music Player
    • Facebook app
    • Old style keyboards
    • Web Browser
    • Ovi Maps

Not bad. Like a slimmer, updated 5800. If you can spend more, there’s the option of a Symbian^3 CBD AMOLED C6-01.

Video: The very light (93g) Nokia C5-03 touch hands on review

November 26, 2010 18 comments

Here’s a hands on video review of the New Symbian^1 (YEAH that’s right. S60 5th) touch phone, the Nokia C5-03. This is the newer touch version (3.2″), NOT the candy bar keypad version.  It’s very, very light at 93g. Check out full specs here.

The review is in Romanian, but even if you don’t speak the language, you can take a look at the hands on side of it. There’s a second video from Nokia Conversations included to give a general overview of features if you haven’t seen it already.

Video: Nokia C3, C5, C6 and E5 all together. [C6 looking speedy]

April 18, 2010 1 comment

Hot on the heels on shoguz78 ‘s video collection showing the C3, C5, C6 and E5 individually, here they all are in one video so you get get a better appreciation of the size comparison.

It’s a short video but one thing to pay attention to is how quickly the Nokia C6 rotates from landscape to portrait.

The N97 (flagship) has a slight delay but looking at the white C6, it turns almost instantaneously. Note they do have the same 434MHz processor.

I also cannot get over how sleek and stunning the super cheap C3 is. And it’s made even more beautiful by the ghastly train wreck that is the E5. Hideous. Absolutely hideous.

The first new Cseries – C5 – Recession friendly social networking smartphone?

March 2, 2010 1 comment

It was leaked a while ago, but now it’s official.

“We are introducing the new Nokia C5, an affordable smartphone optimized for social networking and sharing. More details will follow.”

I wonder exactly how affordable this is. Sub £80?

So…is this a death to the NUMBERS only cheapo/mid-range Nokias with unmemorable names? (not that another series to remember is any less memorable)

Update: Features list confirmed from Nokia Conversations:

  • Free Ovi Maps turn by turn navigation
  • 135EUR – direct conversion, 122GBP, 180USD
  • 3.2mp
  • 2.2″ QVGA
  • Symbian S60 3rd Edition
  • 12mm thin and 46mm across (and 112mm high)
  • 89.3 g
  • Stainless steel body
  • 3.5mm jack
  • expandable memory with microSD

In response to Nokia Naming Convention (I can’t post comment – keep getting database error)

I think Cseries > NUMBERS (might as well be a barcode)
Ideally for naming conventions (especially for flagship[s]) they should have a NAME!
Build on the reputation of that NAME with future models.
e.g. Pre – Pre Plus
e.g. iPhone – 3G – 3GS. Different phones but reputation keeps improving despite previous phone’s misgivings.
even N95 – N95 8GB
Though I’m still wanting a simple 2 syllable NAME (at least for the flagship). It needs to roll of the tongue like melted butter. Something easily pronounced, something MEMORABLE.
Codes- e.g. Nseries N97/N79/N96/N95/N93, so easy for geeks/bloggers/tech peeps but not so for your average consumer.
Previous RANT on Nokia naming:
Looking forward to the N9 eNnine
Build on reputation, expand the number of people that know about that model (it may be a different device but same moniker will make mind share penetration easier)
