Videos: Assassins Creed HD demoed on Nokia N8 (available at Ovi Store – 168MB!)

December 30, 2010 6 comments

Here are some blurry video demoes of assassins creed demoed on the Nokia N8 by chavero115, cyberdri and Camb078.

The first two are very, very blurry but the third by Camb078 from is a little clearer.

You can get this from gameloft OR the easier route from Ovi Store. My bills have increased as it’s just too easy to purchase stuff from there :p. You WILL need to download this via WiFi as it is HUUGE! 168MB, much bigger than Avatar.

It’s priced at 3GBP or som how 3EUR. Apparently some of you are seeing these priced at 2.5CAD. Hmm…I’d like some price unity.

It supports multitouch controls and is in full 3D.

Video: Spider-Man: Total Mayhem on Nokia N8

December 26, 2010 4 comments

A few days ago we saw that Spider-Man: Total Mayhem was available for Symbian^3 devices like the Nokia N8.

However, with no video demo, I wasn’t sure what it actually looked like given the small download size stated from Gameloft’s site. However those sizes were similar with other hugely entertaining and visually blessed games, like Avatar.

I hoped it would be like the iOS version and you’ll be pleased to hear it is, as is multitouch (which isn’t always guaranteed – e.g. SIMS 3 and Galaxy on Fire). Some of you also addressed concerns on whether it’s good enough for your money? What do you reckon?

Spider-Man: Total Mayhem HD available for Symbian^3 from Gameloft

December 22, 2010 4 comments

Spider-Man: Total Mayhem HD is available for download for Nokia N8/Symbian^3 users.

It’s not yet on Ovi Store but it is on GameLoft’s site from your device.

I got there via and a specific T-Mobile link. It may be different with your particular network (you’ll have to chose or the site will automatically direct you).

I haven’t played it yet so I don’t know what it would look like on N8. I’m not sure if it will be like the iPhone version (like most of gamelofts offerings have been for Symbian^3) as the download is only 3MB (though it is titled HD like their other 3D games).   No wait, wait…., I just checked – Real football 2010 HD is 1.25MB and avatar is 0.70MB which I know is HUGE (Over 100MB download).

I want to wait till it appears on Ovi Store – I don’t know how gameloft purchasing/redownload works. But you can get it now if you want from Gameloft for £3.00

Video: Momentous Angry Birds Peace Treaty Skit. End of the feud?

November 23, 2010 2 comments

The UN has intervened between the Angry Birds and the Pigs. In return for the eggs, the pigs will be protected from aerial attacks. This is a momentous occasion for Birds and Pigs everywhere. Or is it?

This comes from Israel’s most popular comedy show, “Eretz Nehederet” and the sketch is of course based on the popular cross platform game by Rovio (and forever championed by Nokia and Ovi), Angry Birds which you can download from the Ovi Store

Video:10 minute S^3 casual game demos on Nokia N8 – Cannon Ball, Miluegg Jump, The Roach Game and Down The Fly 2

November 13, 2010 2 comments

Here’s a 10 minute medley demo video of some casual games for Symbian^3 by FUNCASTorg (I think some are/have S60 5th versions, like Roach game).

  • Cannon Ball
  • Miluegg Jump (free at Ovi Store)
  • Roach Game
  • Down The Fly 2

It’s a great demo video as you’re given a run through of what you need to do for each game and general opinions for each game and the game play. It’s in 720p HD so it’s worth upping the res (if that’s not your default) to see the games better)

Video: Angry Birds on the Nokia N8, iPhone 4 and Nexus One

Here’s a look at the three versions of Angry Birds on the Nokia N8, iPhone 4, and Nexus One

Basically all versions are excellent. The android and N8 versions are beta and lite versions so dont have all the levels yet – the N8 (symbian ^3) version will add levels via in app purchase i believe. Making it more expensive than the current 59p iOS version. Though i believe in app purchase for new levels and mighty eagle will be coming to the iOS version too, which now supports game centre.

Video: SIMS 3 on the Nokia N8

October 3, 2010 2 comments

Four months ago we found out that a bunch of really cool EA games were coming to the Nokia N8 in full 3D.

One of the least demonstrated is the Sims 3 – (the first iteration, Sims 1 was the best selling PC game of all time).

Unlike the S60 5th Edition version, Sims 3 for S^3 is in full 3D, pretty much nigh on the same as the PC version.

Qt Animation Framework – Creating animations and transitions

If you are sick and tired of the state of the Ovi store and want to do something about it then start programming. I downloaded the Nokia Qt SDK today onto my MAC today for the intention of learning to code for Nokia phones and with such great tools like the Qt SDK it’s easer than ever.

BTW with “analysts” and tech sites being obsessed with the iCandy form Apple it is important for Developers to add animations for Apps for Nokia devices

Also notice he is in a train 🙂 sort of

Must Bookmark in your N900: Hundreds of Flash Games over at! +1 for Flash!

March 16, 2010 5 comments

Want some more games for your N900? Exhausted the App Manager and Ovi Store already?

Here’s a place to get hundreds of games (I don’t know the exact number but there’s quite a few!), none of which you ever need to download/install.

Demo below is of Breakit.

It’s all in the N900’s web browser. Point your address bar to TERRYPATON.COM

Some are touch based (bring out the cursor), some use the keyboard, some use both.

For Super Quick Access to or to a specific game, make sure you add it to your N900’s desktop as a bookmark.

Just click the plus button on the web tool bar and click “Add to Desktop”. You’ll see your bookmark for your particular game (or whatever the page is)

These games might also work in a S60 5th Edition browser, but you may be more limited as to which ones will play (higher proportion will work with N900)

The games are categorized into:

  • Action
  • Puzzle
  • Racing
  • Platform
  • Strategy

Plenty to keep entertained.
