Gravity 1.5 hits alpha

December 23, 2010 7 comments

Earlier this year I wrote a post talking up the progress being made with Jan Ole Suhr’s hit application, Gravity. Just in time for Christmas it seems that Jan has let loose an alpha version of the upgrades coming to his application. Key among them, and probably the most significant is the inclusion of a brand-new portrait QWERTY keyboard. This in addition to a somewhat rounded UI elements and improvements to the Facebook integration.

Full Changelog and link to download after the break.

Video: Nokia N8 on a balloon with N8 Producers behind the scenes: Rock Climbing in Finland –

December 23, 2010 3 comments

This is some behind the scenes footage of N8 producers skit: Rock Climbing in Finland. What an absolutely beautiful country. It’s like every angle deserves to be a desktop wallpaper :p.

Check out the contraptions they’ve got for the N8. There’s a shoulder rig to have some steady panning, and at another point, you’ll see the N8 flying on a freaking balloon for goodness sake!

I’m not sure what this behind the scenes video is filmed with – could this 720p stunner also be from Nokia N8 (I’m watching in 480p – thanks Tmob – and it still looks awesome).

Check out the entrants showcase, and upload your own for a chance to win a Zero Gravity Flight Experience 🙂

Video: Nokia Loop App Demo (demoed on Nokia N8)

December 23, 2010 Leave a comment

Remember the recently launched Loop Application? It’s FREE at Ovi Store for Nokia N8 and C7 users.

Here’s a demo from the official Nokia Page of Loop in action showing just how to use it:

  • Works best with headphones (to minimise re-recording of recorded loops) and also in offline mode (so your loops don’t get interrupted by calls/text/email etc)
  • Choose starting Bars and BPM or have some preset base (e.g. Dubstep/Funk/HipHop etc) or ones you’ve recorded yourself.
  • Just record your own every day sounds. Anything works, and I mean anything. I’ve used staplers, scissors, coins, drawers, my mates speaking, traffic etc.
  • The mixer screen is pretty cool too, you can fade sounds out, increase volume of others or completely delete them.
  • If you want to add more tracks than allowed, you can just merge tracks with a touch of a button or pushing tracks together in the mixer
  • You can then edit pad sounds (the four black curved bars on the outside)
  • Save and set as ringtone if you wish.

As suggested in the comments, Nokia should really contact Mystery Guitar Man Read more…

Freakishly Awesome Gallery: Human Cloning with the Nokia N8 – Witchcraft? Well this is certainly magical :p

December 23, 2010 4 comments

With the holiday season being so hectic, we feel more than ever that we need to be in two places at once!

Well harness the power of your Nokia N8 and create your own clone/twin!  What’s this? What’s this?

Human cloning and N8 – It’s not technology, it’s what you do with it, no? Don’t worry about ethical considerations with N8. There won’t be any Nightmares Before Christmas here, as of course this is done by the very fantastic Application called “Nokia Panorama” which is free at Ovi Store!

Not only is the panoramic software fantastic at creating practically seamless panoramas, they’re full of detail. I hope this comes out and T-Mobile has not compressed them during upload.

There’s tons more photos of twinning and some scenic pano shots below.

Video: Keep your eyes peeled – Annoying Orange Coming soon to Nokia Ovi Store

December 23, 2010 Leave a comment

Mark Guim has found that the Annoying Orange phenomenon from YouTube is making eyes at the Ovi Store!

In the  video below, from Nokia’s youtube channel, Nokia wishes you a Merry Christmas and a Flamin’ Good New Year! And it stars, of course, The Annoying Orange.

We’re told to keep our eyes peeled in January 2011. I wonder who plays the Christmas Pudding – there’s normally a cameo from someone else of YouTube “fame”. Imagine if Elop or one of the other Nokia execs does it :p

Indamixx Music MeeGo tablet on Sale – 699 USD (not for general public really)

December 23, 2010 Leave a comment

The professional grade musician’s tablet from Indamixx – MeeGo powered Indamixx 2 Beta is available for purchasing!

There are two models available, for 699 and 799 USD. Oddly, the cheaper version comes with 250GB HDD (vs 160GB)

Other specifications include:

  • – Transmission 5.0 OS (MeeGo Version)
  • 1.66 GHz Intel Atom CPU (N450)
  • 2GB RAM

Note – this is probably not the MeeGo tablet experience consumers are looking for, but it may be for those in the music industry (though I don’t know how much of it could simply be an app on a vanilla tablet itself).

Nokia N900 gets Gingerbread Android 2.3 (before most other Android phones!)

December 23, 2010 7 comments

The N900 Tagline: Is there anything this phone CANNOT do?!

As you might know the N900 has already been taking host of Android for quite some time, also getting Froyo before many other supposed “Android Phones” :p. (Heh, All the other manufacturers are lucky Nokia’s not making Android phones as we all know they’d whip all their asses :p haha). To be fair, they would generally get 100% working versions and may have to negotiate their way around the network.

Here it is with the latest from Google’s Android Phone OS – Android 2.3 AKA Gingerbread.

This is also produced by the NITDroid team, mainly Alexey Roslyakov (DrunkDebugger). Reports suggest N900 digesting gingerbread with relative ease as WiFi, 3G, Sound and other features working. However, there are some niggles that still require addressing. N900 really lives up to its reputation as being one of if not the most hackable phone around. Shame there was no Maemo 6 phone to be playing with right now. Ah well, faith tossed up to MeeGo.

Speaking of MeeGo. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if MeeGo tablet were to get Honeycomb (3.0).
