Video: iOS like Drag and Drop Grid with QtQuick

In iOS (e.g. iPhone) when you long press the icons, they start shaking about meaning you can move them. You can then drag and drop icons into place and the other icons shuffle around.

You’ve always been able to move icons with Symbian, but needing to go Options>Organize.

“Written in Qt Quick. The entire project is just 70 lines of code!

Runs on Symbian, Maemo, Meego, Windows, Linux, Mac and other Qt Quick supported platforms.

Wonder what happens, in the example, if you try to drag the icon outside the undefined “border” – It would kind of annoy me if I wanted to just move ONE icon and all the rest move, too! Obviously this is just an example, but still. 🙂

You mean like outside of the page? If it was an icon at the end nothing would move but if it was in the middle they’d all reshuffle. I’m guessing – if that’s what you mean anyway ;p

I tried that script on an old Pentium 4 and it runs perfectly smooth, even when fullscreen. For comparison, the same machine struggles to run Flash. So thumbs up for the performance of QtQuick (and looking forward to see what UIs creative people will be able to implement with this thing).
