Faenil’s custom Nokia N8 Roms, H2O, 288kbps audio with 30FPS 720p video, 5h 256kbps audio recording (and more)

In the i8910 now N8 custom ROM scene, those aware of HyperX may also be aware of the “rivalry” with equally cool guy known as faenil.

He’s contacted us to share his own custom firmware for the Nokia N8 which as well as bringing

  • 30FPS 720 video also delivers
  • lagless recording
  • Raise in audio quality from 128Kbps to 288kbps
  • Picture quality set to 95 instead of 85 (photos will be bigger in size and more definite)

And this is just in the camera hack alone. In the rest of the firmware, mods include:

  • You can now use the dialer in LANDSCAPE
  • MediaPlayer’s percentage of max volume raised from 40% to 60%
  • Voice Recorder max time set to 5 HOURS instead of 1HOUR!
  • Voice recorder kbps set to 256kbps instead of 128kbps!!
  • Max data object size set to 4096bytes
  • Theme Effects complexity reduced to speed up system
  • Special Aurora theme

and more. You should go check out i8910tuning for more details

This link sounds familiar as Keith also sent us a tip in a couple of Sundays ago which I didn’t get around to posting!

I’m glad the i8910 custom ROM folks are now focussing attention to Nokia’s N8 :D!

sweet glad to see people working on the N8

not to keen on lowering the bitrate of the video recording though just to get the 5fps

and by lowering the ‘theme complexity’ does that do anything to how themes look or how animated themes work?

wish we could choose which mods we want instead of having to install all of them

Oh?? i downloaded the mod and it was just 1 solid firmware file so i assumed you couldnt do that??

and hyperx adds both the photo mod and video mod in 1 file so i assumed you couldnt either?

you can edit those mods yourself most of them are just cenrep mods, look for the filenames in C:/private/10202BE9/persists/ and you’ll see what I mean By the way, I’m coding a software to let you edit lots of settings it will take 1-2months

I have not made long tests since I’m studying in this period…
if you notice that 12-14mbps are still rock solid with 30fps, then I’ll go with it…
Otherwise, I think there’s no loss of details at the moment, 5fps are well welcomed 🙂

Is there a mod to remove the camera noise? I know it’s an option in some countries but not all.

Oh, that’s not even possible. It will make sound. I don’t know why Nokia doesn’t allow us to keep the sound off 😦
