If you’re a Symbian^3 user and you go to Ovi Store for Skype, you’ll notice it says it’s not available for your phone. The folks at Skype have released an update to their Symbian app which means the newer Symbian^3 phones (N8, C7, C6-01) and E5 are now supported.

It includes SILK, our high quality audio codec, which should help make sure your calls are crystal clear, even when you’re on a low-bandwidth connection.

Skype lets you:

The update also contains a number of interface improvements, making it easier to add contacts, navigate, add a photo to your profile and set your mood message. Additionally, we’ve updated the interface to better fit larger screens.

Three UK Confirms Nokia E7 coming early 2011 (may still appear 2010 in other channels)

December 8, 2010 7 comments

In this video sneak peak, Three UK give an overview of the Nokia E7’s new features, crowning it somehow as the new smartphone flagship.

In the video you’ll hear that Three expect the E7 to come to THEIR network early 2011. Nokia promised it will be available Dec 2010. So there’s still time for the E7 to appear on their sales port as well as come to other networks.

The E7 as you know features a fantastic QWERTY keyboard, possibly the best Nokia’s produced; a big, super bright 4″ CBD AMOLED display and a 8MP dual LED, 720p camera. I know what many are thinking and continue to think, “Man, if only the latter could have fit N8’s cam.”. Oh well, the E7 was a before Elop product where segmentation was key.

Video: Nokia C5-03 Hands on

December 8, 2010 9 comments

Here’s another rare hands on with the Nokia C5-03. Yes 03, not the C5-01 T9 candybar

  • Push and unlock on screen (like X3-02. No slider switch it appears)
  • Demo goes through several aspects of the phone:
    • Kinetic scrolling
    • Contacts
    • Music Player
    • Facebook app
    • Old style keyboards
    • Web Browser
    • Ovi Maps

Not bad. Like a slimmer, updated 5800. If you can spend more, there’s the option of a Symbian^3 CBD AMOLED C6-01.

Official YouTube App available for Symbian^3

December 8, 2010 10 comments

Kraistus from Finland has emailed us (tips@mynokiablog.com) with some screenshots of the new Symbian^3 YouTube App!

Want it?

Here are Kraistus’ instructions:

Download instructions:

1. Use the phone’s native(!) WEB-browser, and go to: m.google.com (For example Opera Mobile won’t work, you won’t have the change to select Youtube)
2. You have to choose a language which is supported in the app(!). Choose for example: English(US)
3. Choose the Youtube icon to download the app to your phone
4. Install and enjoy!

I have not tried this yet but Kraistus says it’s better image quality than previous mobile web youtube (though still needs improvement).
