Video: Nokia N8 – See More with HD! (Weirdest Nokia Video “My SuperFun House Party” explained – and it’s awesome!)

A couple of days ago, we prematurely came across some videos from the Nokia France Channel that was awfully weird and didn’t make sense.

We thought it could have been a leaked promo for the FX studios app that brings hollywood style visual effects to the N8.

It turns out to be a HD campaign “See More with HD”. Without HD, you’ve got a normal, almost boring tour. In HD, these boring things come alive! Literally.

The sofa-box chairs become a Pony! Some weird looking folk become aliens! Couple of girls meeting and hugging becomes a ketchup wrestling match and all the other weird stuff that made NO sense alone makes absolute sense in this campaign. See more in HD or see your fantasies through HD? lol.

The phone also switches from something that looks tattered, and the sound isn’t so good, but then swithing to N8 HD switches the phone to N8 and you the bass kicks in.

Very, very well done. Check out the flash box atNokiaFrance‘s channel.

Oh and that’s why there were two initial uploads! I thought they mistakingly uploaded the same video twice. Man If I had only seen the other video.. ha.

Cheers khalid0u for the heads up to mynokiablog.com/tips!

Ah, if only FX studio were capable of this…

Anyway more to the point, why do Nokia always hide this stuff away? Why is it sitting as a random video on Nokia France’s youtube channel?!?!

Can you imagine if this was Apple?! – it would be front of their website, it would be talked about in the mainstream media, let alone blogs, it would be everywhere in every country, clips would be on TV and print with a URL to see the full video, you name it!

Nokia creates great products but seems unable to market them properly, they’re like the quiet genius sitting at the back of class who never let’s their incredible creations (handsets as well as youtube videos 🙂 ) shine through for the world to see.

Meanwhile we all have to put up with another Apple ad screaming in our faces about how the iPhone has a 5mp camera now, and ‘multitasking’ (ha!)…. 😦

Yes totally agree. Like the mega N8 film “The Commuters” was left floundering on the Nokia UK channel instead of the massive Nokia Channel. Shame, shame, shame.

This day and age is ALL about marketing aggressively. Nokia still is a little meek and humble.

This kind of misdoing things won’t be helped by hiring more seniors.

NOKIA seem not to see the problems it have had in handling things such as product designing, engineering and marketing.

I don’t know, I think their product design and engineering is absolutely excellent, quite frankly. The software needs a slight kick up the backside, but that’s on it’s way shortly as we all know.

I think changing senior management is the best hope for marketing improving actually. They will take a fresh look at everything and make things happen.

I have high hopes following the senior management changes, it was the best thing to happen to Nokia for a while.

their marketing team indeed deserves a “kick up the backside” :S in my life the only nokia product i have ever seen advertised is the nokia c3 apart from the n8 which was advertised by the local carriers and NOT nokia

OK, I can give you one hint and you imagine how it works.

Skillsman and Ahtisaari, who is the son of the former finnish president both are in charge of Meego N9 design. What we have seen is N9 in a SLOW progress…

Many things like this have been happening inside Nokia.

If I say something bad about NOKIA, I must know something about it. I may not necessarily willing to tell the details behind it though.

Still another example is about Internet. Nokia VP many times talked about phone’s internet accessibility even back to 2 years ago. But Nokia did NOTHING to its mediocre internet experience on its platform. Its web browser was not only UI lossy but also performance terrible. Therefore N8 got a lot of criticism for the web experience. Nokia’s Symbian Internet usage position just justified how Symbian Internet works.

This are the things I hate about NOKIA and hope it knows exactly what the problems are and where it fail as the mania of hiring seniors is not the right approach to tackle the real problems.

Over the last couple of years I never saw a Nokia ad on TV. But just a few days ago I saw the N8 add (familiar one with ‘what will you do with it’) on TV (in Holland)

I think they are keeping ads to a minimum. More or less because of some bugs still left in the N8. Makes sense IMHO. Hype up a device in ads and when someone has it it bugs out and crashes (which is a fact along with the manufacturing issue)

I expect more marketing and media stuff coming in January/February when S3 will be up to speed.

That specific statistic shows nothing at all. It’s from US internet traffic, logically Symbian is low their. Nonetheless, Nokia sucks at the browsing experience. But is that really because of VP’s/Seniors alone?

I believe it’s more the general attitude towards the market. Nokia has been the leader/innovator/trendsetter or whatever for a decade (97 to 07 let’s say) Ever since 2007 the we’re losing but due to the succes they had in the previous era they didn’t think much of it. It would blow over and they would attain their market share anyway.

But now that competition is more than heating up (2008 onwards, launch of Android) they are seeing the need to develop better. The real smartphone wars haven’t begun till two years ago. Short period of time IMHO.

Anyway, you say hiring a senior is bad? So they should just get someone unknown, someone without a good network of contacts? Inexperienced?
I do understand what you mean and that would be a good way, but it also necessary to hit the ground running with established talent. People that know their way around and can throw their weight around.

I don’t know anything about deVard (as an example) but she is one that brings experience and presumably a huge contact base in the US. That would be a fast start for Nokia this way.

But you seem to know more about the inner structures of Nokia than I do, so probably I’m only seeing a tip of the managerial iceberg that is too bureaucratic to be quick to act to what the market wants.
However, I doubt that their managment stuff is completly different from let’s say Samsung or HTC. The difference is culture, the major ‘succesful’ companies are either Asian or American.
That weird Fin is most logically going to stand out and do it differently.

What I was intending to tell is when top management of a company talks about something that can not actually realized or delivered in the products or services, the company DOES have some very real and critical problems. One of NOKIA’s management problem is surely the bloated management, too many overlapings with low efficiency and incompetency which has nothing to do with Finnish culture. In the past 2 years, NOKIA have had hired +300 seniors and surely NOKIA must have found GOOD REASONS to hire those guys but it did not help anything at all…

I won’t continue to talk about this issue anymore. Let time tell the truth…

The soundtrack in this clip is just the finest French House, minimalistic yet stompin 😉 I liked the clip. Looking forward to what Daft Punk did for Tron.
