Video: Plasma Mobile on MeeGo with QML demoed on Lenovo IdeaPad S10 3t

Here’s another look at Plasma UI on MeeGo touch/netbook devices.

MoRpHeUz’s Blogmorphbr also has another of Plasma Mobile UI on a Macbook Pro.

Videos and S10-3t tech specs after the break.

BTW S10 tech specs (typing up again at the moment since wordpress ate it and left blanks behind)

  • 10.1″ LED multitouch screen that swivels from netbook to tablet form factor
  • 1024*600 resolution
  • 2GB RAM
  • Intel Atom N470 (1.83GHz or N475)
  • Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3150
  • Starts at 499USD (with 599USD AND 729USD models. BTW the 729USD model is reduced to 549USD)
  • 250GB 5400RPM HDD (or 320GB)
  • 4 cell battery (or 8 cell – is this the bump featured on video?)
  • Bluetooth 2.1+EDR
  • WiFi B, G, N.
  • Comes with Windows 7 Home Premium in regular retail packaging (not MeeGo like the MeeGo Conference folk received)

I hope there’s a MeeGo version of the Lenovo U1 concept too.

Would this type of tablet be useful or is it better to have a non-disconnecting tablet?

This Plasma UI isn’t even alpha quality from the video above. It looks like a tech demo showing off screen swiping and nothing more. There are simply no inherent traits which would help a user to be more productive using this UI.

the significance is that it was done using qml…you can create app interfaces in qt using qml in significantly less time than using native code. Main reason being that the exact app can be written for one device and deployed with almost no changes on a myriad of others with no fuss

Not sure how much QML is in PLASMA UI. it’s a pre -alpha and I don’t think we will see a final release until Q3-Q4 2011. It will be faster once they introduce qt-scenegraph and all the UI will be hardware accelerated. from what I’ve seen you can do some complex animations and still running smooth.
