Event: Symbian Exchange and Exposition 2010 begins today! (1H 40M)

Symbian Exchange and Exposition 2010 starts today! http://www.see2010.org/

SEE 2010 is not a tradeshow—it is a place for the wider community to come together, make cross-industry connections, conduct conversation, share ideas, educate each other and realize some of the vast possibilities that exist in the market.

The Agenda of the day is as below (as .png image):

Things kick off 10AM CET with new CEO Tim Holbrow.

  • 1:00 AM LA
  • 4:00 AM NY
  • 9:00 AM GMT (UK, Portugal etc)
  • 10:00 AM (CET, Amsterdam, France, Spain, Germany)
  • 11:00 AM Finland
  • 2:30 PM (INDIA)
  • 5:00 PM (HK, China, Philippines)

It’s quite a jam packed day! Any expectations from this year’s Symbian Exchange and Exposition?

You know, it’d be damn nice if they said something at SEE about the forthcoming changes to Symbian/Symbian ^3/Whatever that are coming to the platform in the near future now that the ^2 ^3 ^4 thing is over with. I’m curious to see if they have anything up their sleeves for current ^3 devices, if any.

Crap, the already leaked PQ (portrait qwerty) is shown in the image.
So not hoping that that is coming. Worst design EVER, EVER!

Don’t be so negative yet. It might be just an early quick prototype.

Early or mid December, I will evaluate the browser and Qwerty again. Nokia should have known what we want and like. I am sure we can expect further improvements.

Even you must understand that people have hugh expectations for Nokia. One of the biggeste cellphone companies wioth years of R&D knowledge and more than enough time to study the market come up with something that looks utterly uncomfortable to use and on a side note looks like its slapped together someone on a lazy sunday morning.

Don’t get me wrong I understand that SW development takes time. I’ve done some webdesign over the years, and while that’s probably easier still is very hard.

But Nokia has had so manu years of just F^&%ing about that with S3 it should have been an immediate (somewhat) succes. But instead of about getting it right, they missed some pretty obvious things that needed change. Text input for one.
I do understand that there have been significant changes to the underlying OS and that it took a lot of time. But launching a phone (or OS) without a decent text input option just seems half-assed and gives the impression that they just don’t care.

And again, don’t get me wrong I love Nokia’s for several reasons. But they don’t make it hard to walk away from because of some (simple) but stupid design choices.

swype layout will replace it eventually. Is it really better for typing I am not so sure. This ugly looking one is kinda fine for typing.

3.2″ screen it does not really matter. It will always be bit a problem to use portrait qwerty on those.
