Bell: Face time with your Nokia C6 -_-

It’s a sad day when features we’ve come to take for granted are renamed by Jobsian vocabulary. High Res screens replaced with Retina Display…video calling with Face Time. Bell – Canadian Mobile Network – has taken advantage of this and is advertising the Nokia C6 with face time – video calling from anywhere in the world. We’ve been doing video calling since what, 2006? Admittedly the interface hasn’t vastly improved due to the limitations of 3G.

Thanks to Keith for the heads up.

BTW, Nice page organization over at the Bell Page – really sells the C6 well. Other online retailers should take note. Though they might have to pull the whole face time bit if that’s Apple owned branding.

I think that’s true for everything. Nokia has NEVER pushed anything like Apple has. In a world where perception almost matters more than reality, this is where Apple wins hands down.

I completely agree with you. If there’s anything that I like about Apple, it’s their marketing strategy. I’ve noticed that all apple does is that they put in a couple features that others already have and then advertise so much about it that it woos the customers into thinking that it’s only offered by Apple. Nokia really should have advertised N8 HEAVILY. especially the camera, HDMI output, USB-on-the-go and other such features on N8. Let’s hope They do it properly with the N9.

        Nokia needs to learn…………:(

Sad but true…Jobs changed the meaning of
Smartphones: The first Iphone couldn’t multitask, copy and past, did not allow apps(only allowed widgets), limitations on bluetooth use.
Apps: Books are now called application, press a button to fart or press a button to go to a website becomes called an app. too.
Multitasking: I hate it so much that I don’t even want to explain this point.
Tablets: People waited for a full fledged OS tablet but now a mobile OS becomes the standard of a “true tablet”.
Its normal for apple features to become great/magical/relevant but features of another company with better hardware/software becomes not required or irrelevant.

It’s not only crapple and jobs, it’s a more general…”americanism”? Search for something -> google it; photo editor or edit a photo -> photoshop (it); media player -> ipod; phone running Android -> droid…the list goes on and on. It’s a much greater phenomenon in the English language, and all of us who use these “substitutes” are responsible for it.
