Newer version of MeeGo running on the N900

Here’s a video of a newer build of MeeGo, complete with hardware graphics acceleration (or so it would seem 🙂 )
That said, it’s a lot smoother and faster than previous builds we’ve seen before and looks to be coming along nicely.

The other piece of good  news is that it seems like MeeGo 1.1 is still on track for a release this year (coming month or two). Hopefully we see some good things at the MeeGo conference in November. Whether Nokia or other manufacturers could productize a device using this release by year end is an entirely different story altogether. Sound off in the comments.
Thanks Jim for the heads-up

this is not going to be the UI for nokia meego devices.. This version is more like the vanilla version of meego…

the screen changing from landscape to portrait looks slow at 1:56.
and the start up of the application are really slow…

Well the start-up speed is probably due to running the OS and the associated apps from the SD card or 32GB memory and then trying to load pictures and app data from that same memory as well. I/O speed was most likely the limitation there. Either way, that build is not nearly gonna be what we see on devices

the speed is increased because there were used new graphic drivers for n900.
this is the vanilla UI, every produces will customize the UI whatever they want, from icon looks to widgets, button and so on. 🙂

Just saw they picked the t-shirt design for this years meego conference in dublin next month,
as a dubliner myself i will be looking forward to this , and hopefully we will get an idea of where meego is and the amount of interest there is in the community then.

    oOH, Hello screen rotation animation.
It’s nice but there’s something clunky about seeing that white space behind it.

Could be changed to match the underlying image, be it menu, or homescreen or simply theme matched. At least that would make more sense in practice.

cant wait to get the N9. BTW carphone warehouse has dummies and pricing for the N8 in stores now. Supposedly there was only 1 unit at their oxford street store in london.

If I remember it is 379 with 10 Pound top-up, unlocked.

Okay now it looks as if we’re getting somewhere. It’s just strange how nobody seems to understand, that this is the vanilla MeeGo that prolly will not be seen on any devices.

Everyone, including Nokia, will spice MeeGo up with a custom UI. And you know about the MeeGo tablets, they’re all running their own UIs.
