Video: Nokia N8 AMOLED versus iPhone 4 IPS LCD

Quick video showing the N8’s AMOLED against the iPhone 4’s IPS LCD.

Now, this is “just” the N8, without that blinding CBD AMOLED found in the Nokia E7 or C6-01.

Colours look great on both of them.

I love iPhone’s fluid rotation. We have that on Nokia Photo Viewer app and N900’s photo viewer (to some extent) but we just get this sort of mechanical “bang” I’m portrait “bang” I’m landscape. Well, different strokes, different folks.

Let’s not forget of course resolutions. 640×360 in N8 and 960X640 in iPhone 4. Pretty much the difference between N900 and iPhone 3GS. But this resolution of course is not related to the screen technology which was the point of this post.

WOW. Even playing that video at 360p you can instantly and easily see that N8 has a significantly better screen than iPhone 4 – AND the N8 is just as fast. Colours are better and more vivid on N8 and because of that, dare I say it, shock horror arrest me immediately – N8 HAS MORE DETAIL!

How embarrassing for iPhone! Someone send this to Gizmodo and Engadget, please 🙂

Ho Roger, where exactly I can see that N8 has more detail and vivid colours? and btw try these phones yourself and u will see the difference… its rly hard to compare something from video. especially from 360p… How embarrassing for you, not for iphone or N8 🙂

I have to say that i cannot tell that the retina display is better in fact you could say they are equal or argue which is slightly better

Hi John, thanks for cowardly not putting your real name. I know it’s a bit of a shocker for you to accept, but the video is obvious – N8 has noticeably better colour production and is more vivid. The pixels are not noticeable in either handset at normal holding distance. The better colours on the N8 bring out more detail. The N8 trumps the iPhone. Sorry to destroy one of you misunderstandings about the iPhone 4. Oh, and the N8 can make calls too, no matter how it’s held 😉
