Video: Stunning video shot and edited on the N8 – with solution for close up macro! (+more macro samples)

Thanks to Manpreet Jagpal for the heads up to tips@mynokiablog.com, here below is one of the most beautiful videos I’ve seen shot on a phone – and it’s edited on it too.

What’s more, you may be suspicious that there are very clear close up shots with blurred background. But the N8 has a fixed focus video meaning everything is clear except close up shots. This was achieved simply and cleverly with a magnifying glass! Neat! Have you tried that out? I’m gonna want to try that. 🙂

Also pretty important but not often shouted about is the ability to record precision audio in stereo. It really helps give that sense of being there – that sort of holophonics experience – especially over good speakers/headphones.(I literally shivered when the “wind” blew across my ears)

I’d happily listen to an hour recording of plain running water recorded by the N8 – You know, like those nature sounds tracks. It would be so easy to make your own with the N8 – perfect for relaxing/revising and sharing.

The location is Suolijärvi Lake, Tampere, Finland – it looks so picturesque.

MAKE SURE YOU WATCH THIS IN 720p HD

Incredible video. Questions for you guys:1. why isn’t there a qwerty keyboard in portrait mode? 2. why does the text not reformat to fit the screen in the browser when you double tap? on the N8. Major omissions in my view.

Videos are simply stunning! I can easily compare the quality with my Nikon P100! And I’m so trying this magnifying glass trick with my N8 when I get it!

      1. Actually, Nokia wanted to keep the T9 keyboard on it since so many people still use it and find it faster to type on a T9 keyboard. Ever tried typing with one hand on a portrait qwerty and T9? You can type twice as fast on the T9 with one hand!
And for those that really need qwerty, they can use it in landscape mode.

      2. Yes, thats a bummer. But I expect Nokia to fix that with the release of the new browser 🙂

I personally like the T9 in portrait too.Like Keith said i find it easier using the T9 with one hand.Guess it depends on each individual’s preference.

dennis my friend, if u want a portrait qwerty keyboard, u can download swype from beta labs… it works flawlessly , i use it on my n97 classic.
and yes, im gonna buy this phone no matter what 🙂 just look at this camera!

Swype also does not have portrait QWERTY on N8. There will be update that will bring portrait qwerty in to the N8. When it will be Don’t know. But it is coming.

Thanks for the responses. I have been using the swype keyboard on another phone and it is very good after a little use. My daughter types one-handed on the iphone portrait keyboard very quickly. I just find the T9 style very slow but that is just me. Nokia usa website has said that the N8 pre-orders are shipping next week and the other colors will be available on Oct.8th.

OMG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE NOKIA N8 CAN ACTUALLY SHOOT VIDEO LIKE THAT. Thats what I call a magical, revolutionary product at a unbelievable price 😀 (sorry apple just couldn’t resist “borrowing” your iPad catch phrase there)

That’s why it’s a SUPER camera phone. Some people who always say that Nokia is just good at making hardware should revise their dictionary…

I think it’d be best to provide OPTIONS to the user. In that way, individuals can use what suits THEM rather than having to accept the options provided to them.

That said, it seems like the keyboard input for this device was of significantly lower priority than other tasks it would seem.

too bad I work in wrong end at Nokia. If I be work in design team I would include T9,half-qwerty,mini-qwerty to portrait mode. to people to choose from what fits best for them. 🙂

Well said. The more options a user has the better for everyone.:)

Hope the 2 options for the keyboard and the reformating of the text with double tapping are in an update.
