Video: Avatar on the Nokia N8 with multitasking of Asphalt 5, GT Racing and Hero of Sparta over HDMI.

Very quickly, here’s the famous Blue Cats in Space, AVATAR game demoed on the Nokia N8. But Asphalt 5, GT Racing and finally Hero of Sparta are also demoed, and with the latter still with the other 3 games chugging in the background.. As mentioned by several product managers, C7, E7 and C6 will all be capable of reproducing the same game playback. I.E. if N8 can do it, all the other S^3 handsets can do it. Though having that big 4″ display and some keyboard controls may give you a little bit of an edge over say, the C6. I dunno – maybe. 🙂

im actually considering the c6 over the n8, i like the small size and the cbd screen, and most important SEND and END buttons.
But my question is, does it have gps? If yes, im sold.
Naahh, ill get them both probably 🙂

p.s please , i beg of you, when u post a youtube video, add also a url for it.
I use opera mobile on my n97, and i cant watch the vids.
    Thnx 🙂

The C6-01 actually has full navigation; both A-GPS,Compass, and free OVI maps…just like the C7 and N8. One downside…you do not get the HDMI output you see with N8. However, you still get TV out…it’s a lower resolution output to TV set than the 1080x720p of the N8. The C6-01 really is a great deal…well constructed and super packed with capability for a mid tier phone. IMHO.

PS: A-GPS defines a GPS capable CPU with the optional functionality to choose network assist for even faster locks.

        thnx for the info mate.
y doesnt the n8 have SEND END keys. there are basic functionality with them/
        for example :
-long press the END key to disconnect active internet connections.
-when u dont want to multitask in some apps, u just hit the end button, when u do want to multitask, u hit the menu button. (as on my n97)
-when there is a number on screen, u just hit SEND to call it, no going into menu’s required.

i love the camera of th n8, but the lack of this kind of functionality just bugs me. so again, its the c6 or c7 for me, wish they have better cameras though.

The nokia n8 designers have said it is because of the design, end and call buttons will “ruin” the stylishdesign

As much as I’m digging the availability of the variety of games on Symbian 3, the frame rate is a disappointment. Especially for the racing games. Speaking of which, why the heck is that one game making the car run backwards?!?

    • September 24, 2010 at 7:39 pm

for the games to run smoothly, it has to be natively designed for the platform, while all these games are just ports from the iphone, so dont expect a good framerate from them and also its gameloft who have done these ports very inefficient… hopefully they will be optimized before release.. just see nfs shift, much better port and much better framerate even on HDTV.. EA ftw!!

All these games are not officially released to Ovi store. It means they are not official yet and still under work. As they are not originally developed for Symbian, they need to be optimized for Symbian3. I suggest you wait and make your judgement when the final version is released in Ovi store.

Actually, the phone automatically closed the other games when he opened a new one. This phone showcased on the video never actually had two games running at the same time; the OS silently closed the previous games some time after he opened a new one, and it only had one game running at a time. And still with only one game running at a time, the frame rate was very bad unfortunately.

Open apps are shown as a small green circle on the top right corner of the app icon. You can clearly see the phone never had two games running at the same time because when this guy goes to the menu to open another app, the previous games don’t have this circle showing it is open (apart from the very last game he has just minimized).

And no I’m not a Nokia hater. I have a N95 myself, I simply LOVE this phone and I think it’s better than any iPhone to date, and can’t wait for the N8 so I can quickly purchase it (been getting money for it since it first leaked). However I think you just missed on this important detail of running apps. Saying it had other games running at the same time would make the very noticeable lag on the games seem minimal, as in “wow even with several games running you can still play a new one”. However it is not running more than one game at a time and in these conditions, the shown framerate for a retail Nokia N8 is unacceptable.

I sincerely hope they fix it ASAP before release because I don’t want my N8 lagging on games when I show them to my friends who have iPhones, just to hear them saying “hey look your phone is lagging badly, my iPhone isn’t and I have many more games”.

I noticed that the person pressed the front button in stead of pressing the exit button on the screen. So the game didn’t close but went to the background (meaning it’s still running using resources i.e. GPU and ram), and the screen switched to home screen …

Indeed. However, after opening a new game and loading it, the phone automatically closed the previously open game. So, it was never actually running two games at the same time because when you open a new game, the phone closes the previous one.

positive……very beatutiful it fixes in your hand
dark black screen when it turns off
music player great but not as N95/96 20% less than that
    easy uploading social networking pictures
buttons are really soft and accurate looks like made for me
    games ovi store amazing
speaker voic is so amaing it feels the clarity can speak all night;-)

Negative……when you dial a number first time you cant save it later when ever
you try to save it start making calls
when you use skype you can not turn the speaker phone on as its annoying( in iphone even 3gs you can do that)
you can not video chat on yahoo messenger even iphone you can do that
internet browsiing is very slow would rather say 20-30% better than N95/96(if you have used any android then you would never be happy with nokia;-)
music player you can not preset your own setting would say N95 wow that was the player could satisfied me with bh-504
when use youttube it doesnt drop the list like android does you need to type all the time what you need
using camera when flash is on picture becomes so white but without flash is better
its been my fourth day with wth N8 it dissconnet the line might be possible that i touch my cheeks i am not cheeky;;-) but slim dunno why,,same as speaker phone tursn on by it self.

I am big fan of nokia can’t think to leave or change my brand but was thinking of it………coz if you have used android thats crazy machine, nokia should have to change symbian its enough, this is american monoply what app you need it says only for BB,iphone, android where will nokia go we cant let nokia go,they push people to change their brand………but i like quality not the quantity
