N8 browser another sneak peak

Here’s another short video of the browser on the N8 which is getting along nicely, seems like they still need to get the zooming sorted out though.

    @john
I think the zoom suffers there as it is still playing a flash video in the browser. Might be smoother if that was not running at the same time?

looks like you can’t zoom/scroll if your finger is on a flash item

That makes sense, you would want to control the flash item while in it.

I am not sure how it works in Maemo/N900, if you are in a flash item does the keyboard send the key presses to the flash item (e.g. a game) or to the browser (e.g. browser shortcuts)

    • August 8, 2010 at 5:33 pm

Agreed. Though if John is looking at the white and grey grid of squares and saying they need to sort that out, I think that is a part of how the browser renders. I don’t know enough to say for sure, but just what I have noticed!

    Guys,
Any faults you find with the browser it’s worth remembering this is just a temporary stand in for N8 launch until the much better new browser is released in October, on the N8 before anything else. So this one just has to be good enough for most people til then.

    That’s a LOT of LAG

Other than that though websites look great on the phone

  5. August 8, 2010 at 6:40 pm

Have u used ucweb browser ?
The default browser needs to take many options from other browsers
    list continues
    4.assign short key
5.save or download flash video option
    6.open bookmarks in new tab
    7.

where can i post this ideas ?

I have a question, all the videos I have seen of the N8, none of the menus and particularly the app menu are in alphabetical order. I have seen the videos where they choose “organize” under the options menu but still no “auto alphabetize” feature. I find it annoying on my N82 that the apps are not alphabetized. The main apps I use everyday are on the homescreen, but when I try to look for an app it is buried in a disorganized mess. And no I really don’t feel like doing it myself.

it is acceptable. embeded youtube plays just fine, which is always a good bench mark. the only think that concerns is the ram size, but not a deal breaker.

The High End devices such as N9 and S Series(?) MUST have more RAM then required, if they think 512 is more than enough, make is 768MB!!!

It is the High End it must have it all.

DUDE! N8 looks complete to me in this video! FREAKIN’ AWESOME! Very smooth, no lag at all even with 5 apps open. I guess all they need to do now is improve the browser and OVI Store Client on N8 and they’re done!

did u see that it shows better color in n8. compared to that actual video taking camera

    @Authors of MyNokiaBlog.com

Why don’t you guys make a little article about some of the most successful and unsuccessful smartphones by Nokia? I mean, with the release of N8 and Symbian^3 along with announcement of Symbian^4 and MeeGo, Nokia will be writing a new chapter in their book. I think it would be a perfect time to have a look at some of the major events in Nokia’s history since this blog is all about Nokia.

Agree, it ios super easy to jailbreak and unlock iphone and get the cracked apps and games,

as a nokia users, you will need to learn how to sign app and games after applying certificate
, the cer and key is an unique key for use on your own handset only

with the jailbroken iphone, you can download tom tom , top 20 paid iphone games, the missing useful utilitiss,

hey guys, off topic, but a question for the blog, does nokia need a ‘N’ logo?

I was just walking down the street and I can spot iPhone due to the apple logo on the back. I have seen smoe N900’s but the only way I know them is cause I know the look.

Wouldn’t it be great to have an easy to see N on the back??

Something to identify the brand as being different and better?
      A good idea I think.
Would help to differentiate between the numbered and admittedly lower end devices and the higher-spec-ed devices.

What about the Nseries branding on the back of the phones is that not good enough ?

    • Keith
      August 9, 2010 at 9:46 pm

No they don’t. The look of the phone is enough. Besides, they mostly DO have the model number written on the front like N8 has “N8” written at the top left. And the N8 also has “Nokia NSeries” written on the back. Just N wouldn’t be attractive enough………….for me at least.

have a look at http://www.dv8.com.au/n8_iphone_back.jpg the scale is a bit off as the N8 should be smaller (it’s rough).

From people walking past or across the room/tube etc you will see the apple logo, i doubt that it would be see/read Nokia N series (we will because as per the N900 we know what to look for) what about the general public?

Remember, one is an image and the other is text.

          I see you point.
From a distance, images are easier to interpret than text.
