Nokia N8 due for release 31st August 2010 (from Play.com)

There’s been some rumours that the Nokia N8’s official release date (when you can buy it) will be August 25th (2010!). On play.com (which has listed the Nokia N8 on pre-order for a while at £449.99 unlocked .

Note: It will be much cheaper up front of course on contract plan and pay and go. These early unlocked/SIM Free preorders are often very expensive. Play still lists the iPhone 3GS 32GB at 599.99GBP one year on. The N900 was originally priced at £499. I’m hoping UK prices will settle around 350GBP. At least sub 400GBP with taxes.

Thanks for the heads up Mark L/mrbean.

Contract deals from Carphone Warehouse are due in September (UK), with T-Mobile direct deals due in October. It would probably be on 18month at £25-30 with a free N8 (based on early deals of the more expensive N97) and cheaper still on 24 month.

update: Actually, this release date has also been known for quite a while with a screenshot from last month already showing the 31st August release date. 😦

If they are going to launch on this price rather than the announced 370-380 euro, then dammn sure they will get more screwed

This is not Nokia prices and probably will not be the prices people on pay and go/contract plans will be paying.

      Sub 400GBP please Nokia

probably there are not so many sites from where you can preorder the N8 so they are trying to squeeze you as much as they can. once the N8 will be available in all stores we should see a price drop. and once the meego device is in stores we probably buy N8 for 300 EUR. just my opinion.

      Quite likely.

At least the good thing with the delay is that we’ll get some rough ideas about MeeGo phone which will give users the choice. (Unlike N97 to N900 with some users last year).

Hopefully, they’ll make MeeGo phone a super phone with N8 style camera. I really want to slap someone at Nokia in the face for diluting what could be really strong, concentrated, powerful flagships.

I presently have a TELUS HTC hero. It appears that the programs for this phone were never downloaded. I’m interested in a phone with greater capabilities and one that can’t be hacked.

Would you send me an IPhone registered mail, COD? I presently have a TELUS HTC hero. It appears that the programs for this phone were never downloaded. I’m interested in a phone with greater capabilities and one that can’t be hacked.
