Video: Leaked Nokia Slider, new video hands-on and comparisons.(N9,E7,C7,N8-01?)

The folks and Negri Electronics allowed Jon Rettinger from TechnoBuffalo to do a brief hardware run through of the leaked Nokia slider device. In the run-through he mentions the size of the screen as being a 4-inch capacitive screen and quotes a resolution of 640*360.

Although the screen size sounds quite on point, the sharpness of the screen has me doubting his claims on the resolution.

Regardless it was a pretty thorough run through which highlighted a few of the key features of the device. One key thing that was noted in the previous video as well as mentioned in Jon’s run-through was the thin-ness of the device, with a depth footprint comparable to similarly positioned slate devices like the Evo 4G and the outgoing Iphone 3GS

A link to the video run-through is provided below

A link to his post on TechnoBuffalo including a gallery of photos taken from the video can be found at this link.

An embedded youtube version will be added as soon as it’s available.

My thoughts exactly, HOW did he get that thing.
Engadget still doesnt have this news 🙂
      teehee! 🙂

      • July 1, 2010 at 7:31 am

Added a photo with 3GS/Evo 😮 😮 (Seen in Vid too, plus iPhone 4)
How the feck is it that slim! Didn’t Nokia remember they put a bloody QWERTY keyboard on this thing! : haha, major cool job, Nokia.

Seems like the NegriElectronic folks are passing it around. Haha, ur in US, U should should ask them for a lend before Engadget gets it :p

Hahaha, maybe I’ll do that 🙂
It is silly slim though, I would never have expected a SLIM qwerty from Nokia after the N97 and N900.
          Times do change fast huh

          • July 1, 2010 at 7:36 am

If they can make this that slim, why couldn’t the N900 have had a Xenon too? Or still yet, make a device a bit thinner than N900 but thicker than N8 with keyboard and Xenon!!

            It can happen!

I still have to pick up my jaw from the floor.

Who’d have thunk it, Nokia of all people to make such a slim QWERTY slider 😮

And so much slimmer in the hand when opened.

Nokia World 2010 will be VERY interesting.

    • July 1, 2010 at 7:50 am

I said/hoped some thousand tweets ago that Nokia World 2010 will be the best and most important Nokia World ever, signifying the turn around of Nokia with an amazing host of handsets, devices and new OSes.

Those Nokia stocks that are dwindling right now will pick back up as Nokia’s strategies begin to come to fruition. If they can sell millions of S^1 handsets with that type of hardware, imagine this and N8.

Imagine how thin MeeGo phone could be if it only had touch screen.

Time to buy some Nokia stock??
Just gotta find that piggy bank of mine 😛
It’s going to be a very interesting Q4

So, can someone in the us give the guys at buffalo a call and explain what S^3 is. Hearing “S60 touch” in the video made my chuckle. Also, is Engadget down?

Engadget’s still up. Seems to be running slightly slower than normal though. S60 touch was pretty funny. What is your take on the screen res.?

OMG SO SO SLIM Nokia Design Peeps are back on form now WOW lol 😛

Time to pick up some stocks… Nokia comes back with S^3 and Meego.
Nokia executives have found their focus and the implementation seems good.

1.) Man, this guy is hard to understand, I wish he’d speak clearly.

2.) Video is badly cut – first 15 seconds etc repeats straight away, and end of the video is cut off. Poor.

3.) This guy REALLY doesn’t know very much about what he’s talking about or about Nokias. You can tell this from the silly things he says and the inexperienced way he handles this device. I’d say that’s because he’s American so doesn’t understand Nokias and doesn’t usually handle them.

4.) He is completely GUESSING about screen res, as you can hear in the video. I’d def. go with Jay on the text definition indicating a higher res, this looks obvious, the guy in the video didn’t even consider this.

5.) Further proof this guy is inexperienced is suggesting it’s the N9. It’s clearly NOT the N9. Why on earth would they get the whole thing working with S60 which is a big task, and then switch it to MeeGo? This is obviously not an NSeries device.

6.) Nor is it a C-Series device, the spec on this device is much too close to the N8 to be C-Series which are lower specs, the C0 on the front is just a prototype code.

7.) This is obviously an ESeries device, E7 or E8. So you see a lesser camera (lower res, weaker flash) so as not to step on the N8 (which I expect will still become Carl Zeiss, thus I reckon this device is an earlier rather than later prototype) but you do see the presence of a keyboard (better for business users).

8.) LED flash on the front and a VGA res front camera?! Not sure about that, doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. You either have a bright light in your eyes while making a video call, thus causing you to squint, OR the camera is higher res and it’s a flash – WHY would you bother lighting a VGA-res still picture!? OR it’s the usual VGA res face cam, and that’s not an LED flash.

Device is very nice though 🙂 I will still personally stick with N8 however as the best possible camera is more important to me than a physical keyboard (and noting I can get a bluetooth one of those anyway).

In 7.) where I wrote “…so as not to step on the N8 (which I expect will still become Carl Zeiss…” that’s meant to imply this device (E?) will go Carl Zeiss, not the N8 which obviously already is. Oh for the ability to edit posts! 🙂

This Hardware is what makes me wanna stay with Nokia, its amazing
As a Product Design/Industrial Design student this makes my jaw drop
This Phone is much more interesting than the N8 I think, shame about the lower resolution camera and LED flash
A device similar to this with meego would bring Nokia right back into the game, not that they were ever out if it in my opinion 🙂
