    Replied to your email 🙂
The screen does look a tad above 3.5″ and the resolution still looks higher than 640*360

Man, the choices. This looks to be one bloody good N97 successor.
I hope size and resolution is higher than nHD.

Ok people let’s think together. It’s way to well built and packs an high-end form-factor so it can’t be a Cseries… It doesn’t have any dedicated music keys or even the XpressMusic key like the X6 or the 5800 so it can’t be an Xseries… We’re left with N and Eseries. They take the great camera and put a QWERTY on it… I don’t know about you but a QWERTY doesn’t fit my definition of multimedia in order to be a Nseries… For me this is the E7, but it’s just my hunch 🙂 . The screen was rumoured to be 4″ right? The resolution will probably be the same to keep the consistency on all the apps developed for nHD so far 🙂

it’s likely E7 for the simply reason that it lacks Carl Zeiss lenses.

    • June 29, 2010 at 1:43 am

      Good deduction Diogo.

Most likely Eseries due to previous rumours, lack of branding on camera and N8 supposedly being last S^3 for Nseries.

There are supposed to be several N8 variants. Whether they keep the N8-01/N8-02 -03 monikers is another thing.

As for the screen res, yeah just took a comparision with N97. Must have gotten too over excited and lack of sleep. Hard to tell still without high res photos of the screen.

In order to keep the current apps working they would have to do something in the lines of the iPhone, doublind the pixel count on both vertical and horizontal orientations (quadruplicating the total number of pixels) and that would result in a completly out of this world resolution of 720×1280… That is impossible using AMOLED… If they were to use the same technology Apple used it would be possible but very unlikely.

I really thing this is an Eseries so it’s not likely that it will pack an higher resolution than the N8.

I think the resolution goodness will come with the N9 since it’s the first MeeGo and they don’t have to worry with apps being uncompatible… Let’s see but I would love to see an iPhone 4-like resolution.

The screen is really big! Just look at the shots of it with the QWERTY keyboard opened… The space bar is HUGE and in the same row it still packs 8 more keys and the borders of the keyboard are really big so you can really tell that the screen is huge! Oh well… let’s see what comes out from Nokia. The design is amazing!

good call on the camera, plus it is running S^3. I think you are correct. It is probably E7, given the resolution of the screen is above nHD. if this is the business flagship, who wants Black Berry? lol.

Camera can still be replaced at this point. I wonder if they can pull the phone apart to see what is in side. Then we can easily tell what it is.

      • June 29, 2010 at 9:53 am

The resolution is apparently just nHD that being the max supported of S^3 (Unless of course this ends up having S^4)

But yeah, hardware wise this seems to trample over BlackBerry. I hope Nokia can push it and make people see how good it is. Will be a tough job as for some people all they really want is that blackberry logo. (same with iSheep)

E7? No way. Just because it has a QWERTY doesn’t automatically mean its not an Nseries. Have you forgotten about the N97/N97 Mini and N900? Having a full QWERTY doesn’t take away the essence of Nseries. It only adds to it IMO. The camera not saying Carl Zeiss does throw us a curve ball especially because we already have a picture of the display clearly showing us N00 in the software. That little piece along with the fact that it looks exactly like the N8 are two reasons why I am confident this is an Nseries.

Of course, there’s always the chance that this was a prototype of something that will never see store shelves. It’s happened before.

Eldar thinks it’s C7-1 but isn’t sure. But then there’s already another C7 that looks nothing like this. Though there are X5 that don’t look the same (slider, non slider). Damn these names, they were supposed to make things simple.

At least it’s not something stupid like Epic or Desire.

Wow, it’s sthin(around 12mm), has qwerty, simply camera… certainly new Eseries model coming .

Another excellent design from nokia! Wonder how much is nokia asking? I guess it is same price as n8

    • June 29, 2010 at 10:01 am

Yup. VERY nice design by Nokia. Makes it so difficult to choose! Dammit!

I hope they make N9 some super all in one that encapsulates them all (if you’re indecisive/want the cream of the crop). Then with these variants, if you know precisely what you’re after these will be the ones to go for.

Dammit, I would have so wanted this if it had Xenon.

This unnamed Nokia has a capacitive Amoled Screen like the N8.It has multitouch but the screen resolution is still unknown but lets hope its better than the usual nHD resolution (360×640). It also features an HDMI port like its N8 sibling but lack the Xenon flash. The camera does not have the usual Carl Zeiss branding found in high end N-Series phone which is weird. The HD recording is also not confirmed..
Instead of a simple 8 MP camera, Nokia could have put the N86 Camera module with advanced optics along with a Xenon flash and this would have been a perfect phone.

Here is a hands on video: http://thenokiablog.com/2010/06/29/nokia-rm-626-video/

Thanks! The video is already posted in the previous post to this but thanks for the heads up anyway 🙂 It looks great in that video, especially for proto hardware/firmware

I hope it does have HD recording. It has been rumoured and all those rumours have been true so far. It shouldn’t be too hard anyway, plus would make sense with the HDMI port (though they could just say it’s for downloaded vids/photo viewing etc)

I dont see the point of this being Eseries device do businesses really need a screen this big with a camera better than most point and shoot, I mean customers would abandon work with a phone like this one (I would !!! :-)). Still its a REALLY NICE PHONE its thin as well or at least it looks like it. I still want someone to leak the first meego device PLEASE !!!!

    • June 30, 2010 at 5:44 am

These business type phones began on huge screens. Communicators and whatnot. There’s a few Eseries users who have voiced wanting touch/big screen. Such a minuscule sample size however, that’s worth neglecting.

If it was Eseries, it would definitely begin offering something much more than the blackberry if positioned as direct competitor to it. But even if Eseries, it doesn’t restrict it to just business use.

Having said that, it doesn’t seem to have any Eseries specific buttons as they usually do.

      As for MeeGo phones…

Eldar has a MeeGo phone but he won’t leak it until someone else does first (he’ll prob send off pics to another mysterious site :p)

I kinda like the way how the dust cover on the N9 covers both the HDMI and USB micro ports. Hope it isn’t too late to change the N8’s design =(
